Why is Pink calling her fourth album I’M NOT DEAD? Maybe it’s because her last effort, 2003’s ‘Try This,’ fell flat in record stores and Pink vanished from the pop radar. It took her two years to recover and two years off the charts is an eternity. Now we have to admit we were never a big fan, but Pink has come roaring back with a great album to reclaim her chart destiny.
On I’M NOT DEAD, Pink takes on the culture of bimbo celebritydom (‘Stupid Girls’), also nicely illustrated with her persiflage of, amongst others Paris Hilton, in the accompanying video clip, gets in an ultra catchy kiss-off number (‘U + Ur Hand’), and pokes fun at the bling-bling lifestyle of hip-hoppers (‘Cuz I Can’). She hits the hardest with the killer ballad 'Dear Mr. President,' with the Indigo Girls on background vocals and acoustic guitar. Co-opting George W. Bush’s infamous complaint about “hard work,” Pink turns it back on him, wailing “You don’t know nothing ’bout hard work!” She pointedly asks: “What kind of father would take his own daughters’ rights away? And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?”
Weighty stuff, sure, but I'M NOT DEAD strikes a balance between light and dark, rock and hip-hop, and fun and serious. It’s a tall order, but Pink pulls it off. The proof is that Pink collected several top ten debuts for her new album all over the world, only one week after the release on April 5.

I got this album from iTunes last week and really love it. The hidden track at the end where she sings a song with her Dad, a Vietnam veteran, with only a guitar is beautiful and moving.
