Marc Bessange, renowned Parisian photographer, has an excellent eye if it comes to selecting men to pose in front of his camera. Friend or incidental encounter, the boy next door or the tough guy from the street… the men of Marc Bessange all have two things in common. Sensuality and masculinity. Marc rarely uses professional models and so he manages to capture his guys with a spontaneity, vulnerability and innocence rarely seen in male photography.
No flawless faces here, or dry trained gym bodies. Marc's boys are natural athletes, the kind of guy you can find sitting in front of you while having a coffee in a bar in Paris, or playing soccer in a park . Or working at a construction site in your own street. That is exactly where Marc found Ricardo, a 20 years old guy of Portuguese origin. Marc has collected the portraits of his French guys on his own website, and in his books EDITIONS EUROS 12 and FRENCH AFFAIR, both published by Bruno Gmünder.
