Even though known through his brief but shining career as male porn actor, Colton Ford has also been a recording artist for twenty years. He has performed all over the globe and many remember his 2003 dance hit ‘Everything’ and the Stevie Wonder cover ‘Signed Sealed Delivered,’ which brought him a # 7 placement on the Billboard chart for over 15 weeks. This summer marks a new chapter in Colton’s music career, with the release of his new album ‘Tug Of War’ and the first single ‘The Way You Love Me,’ which will be released on July 3th through Outsider Music and Colton’s own My Space page, and as of July 24th on iTunes, Amazone.com and Beatport. Acclaimed director, Tony Sellari, shot the video, which was art directed by famed photographer, Joe Oppedisano, who was also responsible for the stunning photography for Colton’s album and the interview we had with Colton Ford, and which we launched last week Tuesday. You work with a lot of great photographers. You never did any advertising campaign. Are there any brands you would want to work with above all?
Colton: Actually, I shot some pictures as a fashion model in the past, but mostly I did body shots… I love fashion, so it’s hard to pick or think of a particular brand. I love sportswear, more relaxed outfits, but also elegant clothes, suits…What about the next Thierry Mugler campaign?
Colton, let's talk a little bit about fame. Is fame an advantage or an inconvenience?
Colton:
In my case, fame has had more advantages then disadvantages. I’ve had
the privilege of meeting many interesting people, both personally and
professionally. I’m absolutely certain that some people would never
have met me or listened to my music if I were not Colton Ford, the
former gay porn star. It may have shut some doors too, but I’m quite
happy with the way it turned out.
Is being famous important?
Colton: Not really…for me, the most important thing is being able to do what I love the most, that’s it.
How do you react to overly jealous fans?
Colton: Honestly, most of the people I meet are adorable, even if some are more excited than others…(Laughs) I’m very happy to have fans, and do everything I can to pay attention to them, to be in contact with them. I know it’s a privilege to have their support and most of the people I’ve met are really cool. But if someone gets out of hand, I just stand up and leave. Just like that! No debate, no exchange of words, it’s better like that! (Laughs)
Could you tell me more about your new acting job?
Colton: I’m playing Sheriff Trout in a spin off of Here TV’s hit show' Dante’s Cove,' called 'Dante’s Lair.' The Lair is a cross between 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Queer as Folk!' If you had to do it all over again, what do you do?
Colton: I wouldn’t change a single thing. I’m very proud of everything I’ve done and tried. I endorse all my choices, the good and the bad. You know, if I changed just one thing, it would change everything. Who knows if we would be here, chatting by the fire place… So definitely, I wouldn’t change a thing. -B-
