"IT ALL STARTED TEN YEARS AGO. I HAD JUST MOVED TO NEW YORK, TURNED EIGHTEEN AND DISCOVERED AOL CHAT ROOMS. I ENTERED THE M4M NY ROOM, NOT SURE WHAT TO EXPECT AND NOT SURE WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. AFTER A WHILE AN IM POPPED UP ON MY SCREEN. A QUICK LOOK AT THE PROFILE: MALE, PHOTOGRAPHER, WEST VILLAGE, LOOKING FOR MODELS… MY DISCOVERY OF SEX IN THE WEST VILLAGE WAS ABOUT TO BEGIN "– Jeffery, friend and ex-model of Jack Slomovits.
Seldom has a photographer created such an authentic work as Jack Slomovits has in his book Sex in the West Village, NYC, beautifully published by Bruno Gmünder. Jack works with natural looking men – some of them have never modeled before – in real situations, refuses to use anything else than natural light, and uses a photo-journalistic approach to create a realism that instantly grabs your attention. My photography is about watching people as the bring their new element into a familiar place and see how they interact with it and me watching, he explains. The people and their new elements are in this case the guys from West Village, new York, with their impressive naivety and tantalizing innocence, and the familiar place is Jack’s own apartment. Studios and fully organized photo shoots were never Jack’s thing to begin with. He just lets his men loose on one another without a script, which results in candid, honest and quite arousing scenes in crisp black and white.
Jack Slomovits, born in Miami in 1969 and brought up in Los Angeles, won his first awards with his photography when he was still in high school, after he started making pictures already at the early age of 6. In 1991 he started photographic studies in new York and since then he has had countless exhibitions and publications that have gained him international acclaim. Sex in the West Village, NYC is but one example of the art of this master of spontaneous photography, and takes you on a sexy and erotic journey through sexual experience world of young New York City boys, when they discover love and pleasure with each other.
Sex in the West Village, NYC is a 120 pages photobook with hard cover, published in the high quality that we are used to get from the well known German publisher Bruno Gmünder. The beautiful crafted art book has been released in Europe in May of this year, and will hit the shelfs of American bookstores in July. -B-

Guys in love, expressing it sexually or just with each other is beautiful. Sucking, of course, is my favorite expression.
