As an admirer of many artist who lived and worked during the Romantic and Victorian periods, Kent strives to bring that same iconic and idealized beauty in his paintings. The difference is the modernity and the subject: men. Kent’s subjects are exhibitionists or voyeurs. Or both. The focus of his work herein features portraits and glimpses of the modern life of gay men, cruising and engaging in sex, and with an emphasis on clothing.

Many of us discover the art of drawing ate very early age, while being in kindergarten. But not so many have the talent and courage to develop this in real art at later age. Fortunately for us Kent did. His love for art grew and he took private lessons at the age of 10, continuing doing this thoughout his high school years. Later he attended college at Parson’s School of design in New York City, where he studied painting and graduated in 1984.

Kent has grown into a prominent and respected gay male artist, with representations in several galleries and private collections, and features in numerous books and gay publications, including Men, Mandate, Playguy, Honcho, Unzipped, Freshmen, Blueboy, InTouch, Torso and now also BeautifulMag. Recently he opened his first online print exhibition, which includes paintings that belong to private collectors and works sold through the Tom Of Finland Foundation. Like the Victorians, Kent believes that a painting should be like a novel with a sense of mystery, place and story. That story can not be seen on www.kentartworks.com. -B-

I've loved Kent's works since the first time I caught a glimpse of them in Mandate, whether it was a drawing attached to an erotic story or just the gorgeous artwork itself displayed in either of the magazines he's submitted his art to, Kent's artwork is inspirational and will always be part of my accepting of my sexuality.
