OR AT LEAST, THAT IS WHAT WE ALL BELIEVE. BUT IS IT REALLY SO? IS IT NOT JUST A MYTH, BROUGHT INTO THE WORLD BY MANY PUBLICATIONS SHOWING A HANDFUL OF SEXY MODELS PHOTOGRAPHER BAUER, KNOWN FOR HIS MANY SHOOTINGS FOR FAMOUS MAGAZINE G MAGAZINE, KNOWS THE TRUTH. TODAY WE CONTINUE WITH THE 2ND AND LAST PART OF THE BEAUTIFUL | BAUER INTERVIEW.

Your work most definitely has helped G Magazine become what it is today, an understanding in worldwide male erotic and artistic photography. How do you feel about that?
Bauer: Frankly, I fail to understand that my work has great importance. Because even with G Magazine, my relationship has always been very confusing and failed to respect professionalism. Several times I have had to decide not to shoot for G Magazine. After many bad losses the magazine was finally sold to a group of investors. The new owner called me and I proposed an agreement for a monthly job.

Male photography is not the only thing you do. What other areas do you work in as a photographer, and what do you like most?
Bauer: I do fashion, beauty and erotic. And I love working with beautiful light. I tend to work with light film, which is more expensive. But have a better result. Definitely I like photographing beautiful people. I do not care so much about sex. It has to be beautiful. I am more excited when I can do pretty lights for them. If the models are beautiful I goes with great ease. Now when they are ugly I am disappointed. I have done many photographs of ugly models for the G Magazine. And I also have clients who are the poorest magazines, and can not afford the more interesting models. I usually have my assistant shooting these – ha ha ha.

One would say, in a country like Brazil it must be very easy to find handsome men to pose for you. How do you experience this?
Bauer: This is not true, it is quite a myth. The Brazilians are not so beautiful people as foreigners think. And the most beautiful ones only want to do fashion or television. They usually have no interest in doing fully naked photos, or they ask a lot of money. I feel I have come to the point that I closed the casting of beautiful Brazilian men. For G Magazine for example we are having more and more difficulties selecting the right guys. The producers are now planning to cast in foreign countries.

One would also say that Brazil is the country where sexy male photography is a very normal thing and excepted. Still this does not seem to be the case.
Bauer: You are right, this is also a myth. It is still not very accepted to see naked men in photography. Models do it but most of the time they use pseudo’s to hide themselves from family and friends. The only ones that are at ease are go go dancers and strippers. There is a porno market, where several foreign producers, particularly the Americans, looking for low budget opportunities, who are looking for our models. But honestly, most aren’t so pretty and quite cheap.

If you had the chance to make erotic photos of anyone in the world, who would be in the top three of your list?
Bauer: Gisele Bündchen, Madonna, Rick Martin, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie...

Besides photography, what other interests / passions do you have in life?
Bauer: As a photographer you need to have a good understanding of culture. I love reading, cinema, theater, music, dancing, talking to intelligent people, and travel and meeting places.

What can we expect from Bauer in the near future?
Bauer: I just received a good proposal to be Director of Photography by a major producer who is being established in Brazil. I am waiting. Regarding the naked men, I do want to continue with G Magazine and with some sites that I seek. –B-

Bauer's got a great sense of lightning on those bodies, I'll give him that. As a technical photographer he's on the top of his game.

However, I think that he's also got a great sense of reusing old gay-photographer clichés, while he's not showing real talent for directing his models (4th last picture is a great example of a model not relaxing and looking very, very unnatural).

Anyway .. no one cares. We're just supposed to say "Oh Hot" and the likes .. so, go on.
