IT IS ALWAYS INTERESTING WHEN CREATIVE TALENTS MEET AND DECIDE TO DO SOMETHING TOGETHER. WHICH IS EXACTLY THE CASE WHEN FRANK LOUIS MET CLARENCE, A BEAUTIFUL DARK MODEL WHO IS SO MUCH MORE THEN THAT. THEY MET IN A STANDARD WAY, THOUGH A MODELING WEBSITE, AND TOOK IT FROM THERE.
Clarence is a self acclaimed bohemian, lover of beauty and an artist. Which probably explains that he was willing to show more from himself then a model would normally do in a shooting. When chatting Clarence and photographer Frank Louis decided to do a shooting using leather and iron, and thus the most logical place to meet was at a leather shop, where Frank asked Clarence to try on the corset. A bit shy with the idea in the beginning, Clarence loved it as soon as he put it on and totally saw the possibilities.
Inspired by a 1939 Horst P. Horst photo used for Vogue Magazine, Frank wanted to do something edgy that would push the boundaries and blur the lines between the masculine and the feminine. And that is exactly what he got with Clarence playing the part. Something hard and soft at the same time. Massive shoulders, big hands, strong angles, yet soft and feminine simultaneously. The shooting took place in a dark stair well and with Madonna on the iPod and a bit of a Grace Jones modeling attitude, Clarence and Frank made an art series that shows androgyny at its best. -B-
