MIAMI. ONE OF THE MOST EXOTIC CITIES OF THE UNITED STATES. A PLACE THAT DAZZLES WITH AN ELECTRIFYING ENERGY AND INTOXICATING LATIN CULTURE. GLAMOROUS AND SEXY, ROUGH AROUND THE EDGES. THE CITY OF GREAT WEATHER AND BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. NO WONDER THAT MIAMI IS NICKNAMED THE MAGIC CITY. AND NO WONDER THAT IF YOU LIVE THEIR, AND MAKE A LIVING AS PHOTOGRAPHER, YOU ARE TOUCHED BY THAT SAME WONDROUS MAGIC. AS IS CERTAINLY THE CASE WITH THE TALENTED ANDREW MELICK.
Born in the Midwest of the United States, Andrew Melick moved to Miami in the 1980’s were he studies – and later taught – at the University of Miami. Andrew started his career in real estate, selling property and using the profits to invest in his passion: photography. It wasn’t until he sold the now famous estate on Ocean Drive to Gianny Versace, that he decided to open his own studio and become a full time professional photographer.
While growing up Andrew Melick was enchanted by his mothers fashion magazines. Not so much by what was written, but more by some of the amazing images and printed tear sheets, which he would tear out and pin up his bedroom walls. Now, after more than 15 years working as a photographer, Andrew can look back on a successful career in fashion photography himself. Andrew is also a highly anticipated celebrity photographer, and has published in over 100 renowned magazines worldwide. And asides all that, Andrew Melick is a man with a great eye for male beauty, as his impressive portfolio of male portraiture proofs.
Inspired by known artists as Bruce Weber and Victor Skrebneski, Andrew Melick has created his own signature style that has given him a well deserved place next to his famous examples. Andrew loves to travel and finds inspiration in memorial architecture, elements that are well represented in his work. Andrew’s works shows a timeless elegance, a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Beautiful and sometimes thought provoking, each of his portraits tells its own story.
Many of Andrew Melick’s beautiful photographs are available to buy on his website, as well as his Solitary Men, a unique DVD project that combines black and white still images with music created by Michael Donell and Emmy Award winner Jose Bravo. –B-
