WE ARE ALL GUILTY OF STEREOTYPING AND HAVING SOME PREJUDICE ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE. WE CAN’T HELP IT. IT IS WHO WE ARE. TAKE RUSSIANS FOR EXAMPLE. IF THEY AREN’T ALL SPIES AND COMMUNISTS, THEN AT LEAST THEY ARE GENETICALLY MANIPULATED SUPER ATHLETES. AND OF COURSE THEY ALL HEAVILY DRINK VODKA. RIGHT OR WRONG?
If this is your idea of Russians, than you are in for a pleasant surprise. Because the Russians are coming. Over the past months we have seen a sudden increase of Russian (gay) tourism and may we just say, we are not sad to see them coming ☺. With their often light skin, blond hair and Slavic features, they form a whole new sight on the international gay scene and what a nice sight it is. Of course we can not generalize. After all we don’t want to stereotype. But if we do, at least it is a much nicer image than the general opinion.

Some time ago we introduced you to
Jorge Rivas, a wonderful young photographer from Dallas, Texas and has absolutely nothing to do with our story about Russians and stereotypes. On the contrary. Jorge originates from Mexico where he was destined to become a doctor, until his irresistible creative rush put him on the path of photography, which brought him to new York, where he worked with Joe Oppedisano, and later to Dallas. It was hère where he met, through a mutual friend, Jake Peterson.
His name doesn’t give it away easily, but Jake Peterson is Russian. He grew up in Russia but now lives in Dallas, where he studies business. Social and active as Jake is, he loves spending his spare time in the company of friends, hitting the local gym or playing golf. His photography work with Jorge was a first timer for jake. He had never pose before in his life, and that is how Jorge likes his models. New, untouched and ready to try. And ready to explore is what Jake is all about. Jake is part of Jorge Rivas’ Mirror project, a series of portraits of male models who pose freely in front of a Mirror, and by doing so, without any direction, exposing themselves in intimate, personal and vulnerable situations. According to Jorge, mirrors are important elements in everybodies life: "The mirror can keep a lot of very deep secrets about ourselves. Mirrors are essential in our lives, and as we know, a mirror’s reflection is more than just a flat image of us." We believe he is right. Besides that, Jake Peterson is a mirror for everybody who still thinks of Russians in stereotypes. See for yourself. Russian men are hot. –B-

Many people probably don't realize that when we view our reflection in a mirror, we are not seeing ourselves as others see us, because the image is reversed, right to left. To truly see ourselves as others do, we have to view our reflection in a mirror after it has already been reflected in another mirror (a double reflection, in other words). When people try this, they are frequently quite shocked at their appearance, because all the asymmetries which may exist in their facial structure are suddenly made visible to them.
Scientific studies have been performed to try and determine why some faces are considered beautiful, while others are not. The consensus seems to be that perfectly symmetrical faces, that is, those that look identical when reflected by one or two mirrors, are the most beautiful, and those that are asymmetrical are perceived to be less beautiful.
Jake Peterson's mirrored reflections are perfectly symmetrical, but I didn't have to know that to see that this atypical Russian is beautiful.

I'm russian and of course i'm proud to see and read such a nice comments. But, guys don't put yourself in overrated expectations - russians are different just like people of any other country and number of hotties and hunks here average. More over, i did conclusion ago than woman are more beautiful in russia while man is much more handsome in west europe, especially in Nordic countries.
Russian beauty is awesome indeed but fade away very quick. As long as the youth gone. In middle ages russian male, however, looks terrible. Unfortunately.
