After individually having earned their stripes in the music industry for many years already, drum ‘n base creator Aaron von Schroeder and musician Mortimor Brightway recently joined their creative forces. Now operating under the name MILK67 they have found an enthralling style in contemporary dance music which only can be described as an incarnation of total cross over. It isn’t beat, it isn’t rock and it isn’t electro. It really is a fusion of all these styles.
Today, BeautifulMag is happy to offer an exclusive interview with MILK67’s Mortimor Brightway as well as the World Premiere of MILK67’s White Monks: the first track of their upcoming album Cranky Franky. For the very first time ever, we bring you the hypnotizing video produced for White Monks, starring Nick Beyeler. And not only to view, but also to own. Because exceptionally MILK67 offers a free download of the long version video in high resolution.
This
video shows a customized short cut. For the original, captivating long
version, see download link at the bottom of this article.
Mo: When we founded MILK67 in 2009, our intention was to create a new music style, a blend of solid organic rock, electronic sound designs and dance floor beats. On stage, we also mix prepared synthetic sounds - which Aaron and I contribute from the DJ booth - with live instruments like Professor Moore’s guitar and MC Temper’s vocals.
Mo: We offer two flavours of the same cream: The album “Pre Release Gig – The Mix” offers 67 minutes of MILK67 music blended into each other like a DJ does. It’s one 67 minute live act. Our CD “3001 XL” is a collection of individual songs. Our friends and fans can chose which version they prefer.
We understand the CD's will be released with a big launch party event on February 6 at the Hive Club in Zürich. Why can we not miss this event?
Mo: I think it’s just big fun dancing to our music in a club. And then there will be the “White Monks” video release with many of the beautiful actors present. Isn’t that something?
We have to admit, when we first heard the music and saw the pre-release of the video, we were quite swept away. Both music and video is enthralling, hypnotizing. We can’t help noticing a very present religious and homo-erotic aspect in the video. It is daring and provocative. What made you decide to do a theme like this?
Mo: We wanted to make an ecstatic, erotic video. We felt that this best fits to the song. We could not imagine a better place than a secluded monastery. Our imagination created the White Monks. But honestly, I believe that this is nothing to what is really going on behind the closed doors of some cloisters...
Will MILK67 be a one time cooperation or can we expect more of you in the future?
Mo: Oh, for sure we’ll continue. We are planning a concept album called “Mind Over Matter”. This album shall have a message, a message of tolerance, of overcoming prejudice. The idea is a combined piece of photographic art and our music.
Finally we want to offer you the chance to say something to your fans and audience, so go ahead, let yourself go…
Mo: Enjoy our music on big stereos, dance like it’s the last day of planet earth, and you’ll have a great time. If you are on the dance floor, if you drive fast over the highway or you aggressively vacuum clean , try MILK67 as your energizer ☺
