Spice Girls Reunite for World Tour

AFTER MONTHS OF RUMORS AND SPECULATION, THE WORD IS NOW OFFICIALLY OUT. BRITISH POP GROUP THE SPICE GIRLS ARE GETTING BACK TOGETHER FOR A ONE-OFF WORLD TOUR.

The British girls group Spice Girls was formed in 1994. Their first single Wannabe was an instant success, not in the least thanks to the works of a marketing machine behind the 5 girls as seldom seen in the history of pop music before. The Spice Girls were brought to life as the female answer to the huge amount of teenage boys band that dominated the international music scene in the 1990’s, and – as we all know – not without success. The five members of the group – Melanie Chisholm, Gerri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Victoria Adams – better known these days as Victoria Beckham – were given nicknames by Top Of The Pops Magazine in 1996 (Sporty Spice, Ginger Spice, Baby Spice, Scary Spice and Posh Spice) which the girls immediately adopted, and which became one of their biggest signature, next to the buzzword ‘girlpower.’

In a period of two years, the girls made two successful albums and a movie, and, according to biographer David Sinclair, they became "a social phenomenon that changed the course of popular music and popular culture." In early 1998 the Spice Girls embarked on a 102 date world tour, and it was during this tour that Gerri Halliwell dropped the bomb by announcing her departure from the band in order to pursue a solo career. The four remaining members were confident the group’s success would continue, even after Gerri’s departure. And with the success of Viva Forever, the first single release as a four-some, it did look like they were right, but their 2000 album 'Forever' received only a fraction of the success the previous two albums had, and it wasn’t for long of the official break up was announced.

Since the group's break-up, rumors have persisted of a reunion, and now, after 6 years of doing their own individual things, the Spice Girls have decided to reunite for a twenty-five date world wide tour, entitled ‘The return of The Spice Girls.’ And even though the girls admitted that the reunion is not likely to be permanent, a first greatest hits album is planned to be released on November, one month before the tours kick-off in Los Angeles.-B-

Whitney Houston Is Back In Business

TABLOID HEADLINES AND DIVORCE DRAMA COULDN’T KEEP A RADIANT WHITNEY HOUSTON AWAY FROM SHOWING OFF HER PEARLY WHITES AT THE CAROUSEL OF HOPE BALL LAST WEEK, AS THE GREATEST VOICE EVER STEPPED BACK INTO THE SPOTLIGHT, REVEALING SHE IS NOT ONLY STEPPING OUT, SHE IS ALSO STEPPING BACK UP TO THE MICROPHONE.

Although initially a slow seller, her self-titled debut album that was released in 1985, meant the kick off of Whitney’s successful music career. Eventually the album sold twenty-four million copies worldwide, and became the best selling debut album by a female artist, until that record was broken by Britney Spears Baby One More Time in 1998. Between 1987 and 1990 Whitney produced two more album before trying her luck in an acting career. All with big success.

When Whitney releases Your Love Is My Love in 1998, her fourth studio album, she surprised the world with a complete new sound. The album, originally planned as a greatest hits, was more hip hop and R&B driven. The album sold eleven million worldwide, just like her Greatest Hits that was released two years later. Unfortunately this also seemed to be the end of a successful career. Shortly before the release of her Greatest Hits album in 2000, airport security discovered several grams of marijuana in Whitney’s luggage but she and Bobby boarded the plane before the police arrived.

Even though Whitney signed the biggest record deal in history in 2001, she failed to match the success she enjoyed in her earlier years. Just Whitney, released in 2002 was received mostly modest reviews and her long anticipated 2003 Christmas album did not even make it to the gold status, and became her first album not to do so. Whitney lost her top place in the hit charts and only made it to publicity with rumors about her drug addiction, that became confirmed when the singer entered drug rehabilitation facilities in March 2004 and again in March 2005, and marriages problems.

Now, 21 years after her successful career start, Whitney seems to take control in her own hands again. She quite her drugs and she recently she filed for divorce from her husband-since-14-years Bobby Brown. And announced the release of a brand new studio album in Spring 2007. With a new attitude and a new album, Whitney Houston is back in business. -B-

Scenes Of A Sexual Nature

SCOTTISH ACTOR EWAN McGREGOR SAYS THIS TIME HE’LL SHAVE MORE CLOSELY. HE’S TALKING ABOUT KISSING. SPECIFICALLY KISSING ANOTHER GUY.

Ewan is set to star in the new British drama ‘Scenes Of A Sexual Nature’ where he locks lips with actor Douglas Hodge. McGregor (‘Star Wars,’ ‘Moulin Rouge’) and Hodge play lovers.  He says they've been practicing the kissing scene and he's got it down pat.

The last time he played gay was in the glam rock film ‘Velvet Goldmine,’ he had a lip locking scene with Jonathan Rhys Meyers but Meyers later complained McGregor had given him "a terrible stubble rash." The same movie also placed him in a never-ending sex scene with actor Christian Bale. Ewan failed to stop acting because the director never shouted “cut.” He recalls, "I was f**king Christian Bale up the a**e and the crew was filming. I hadn't done gay penetrative sex before, so I'm standing behind Christian's big naked back, going, 'Wow, this is so... peculiar… "So I start, you know, pumping away slowly, and I start to go a bit more like a bunny rabbit, then like a Jack Russell. Then I said, 'I'm sure I would have come by now.' I glanced back and saw the crew packing up and walking away! I think TODD (HAYNES) hadn't wanted to interrupt us.”

Ewan was in good humour after his first attempt at homosexual screen sex went on longer than expected - but he admits Bale hasn't been in contact with him since shooting wrapped. -B-

The pop deity descends during her show on a suspended mirrored, disco ball-type cross while wearing a fake crown of thorns, an act has already ticked off Catholics in the U.S. "This time the limits have really been pushed too far," fumed Cardinal Ersilio Tonino, who said he was speaking with the approval of Pope Benedict XVI. "This concert is a blasphemous challenge to the faith and a profanation of the cross. She should be excommunicated."

Come on Ersilio, that comment is a lot like waving a red flag in front of a charging bull.
 
Word is NBC urged her to cut the crucifixion from her concert to be broadcast in November. But it's staying. "She felt like that was a cornerstone of the show," said NBC exec Kevin Reilly. "We viewed it and didn't see it as being inappropriate." Liz Rosenberg, mouthpiece for the ecumenical hate object, tells us: "I think the Pope would enjoy the show and would applaud her performance. He has an open invitation to see for himself the eloquence and beauty that Madonna expresses for humanity while performing her poignant song 'Live to Tell.'”

J-LO Re-Turns

Jennifer Lopez is looking to make us fall in love with her once again with a string of products to put the 'glow' back in her image. J-Lo will soon be seen onscreen with hubbie Marc Anthony in EL CANTANTÉ, a biopic of salsa king Hector Lavoe. The buzz is that she's brilliant in it. Next up is AMERICA'S DARLINGS, a World War II musical in which she will match her singing and dancing qualities with co-star Nicole Kidman. Following that 'Jenny from the Block' takes on the role of - yes - Sue Ellen, in the upcoming movie version of TV soap 'Dallas,'  that was a worldwide hit from 1978 to 1990. And if that is not enough, Jennifer might also do a reality soap for MTV documenting her daily life, which apparently is a lot of turning.

Robbie Williams On the Dance Floor

Seeing Madonna return to the dance floor and re-establishing her icon status among her gay fans - not to mention boosting up her record sales worldwide - Robbie Williams is supposedly working on a top secret dance album, targeting at her Madgesty’s fanbase. Rumor has it he is collaborating with producer William ‘Ray Of Light’ Orbit and the Pet Shop Boys. Robbie's last CD ‘Intensive Care’ had this rock edge that – apparently – was not so appealing for his more camp pop audience. The project is said to be so secret, Robbie decided to work on it using an alias. Considering Madonna's successful sample of Abba's 'Gimme Gimme Gimme,' maybe Robbie is targeting the same formula. Something from Take That perhaps?

Bad Hairdays for Beyoncé

With the lead in the upcoming movie ‘Dreamgirls’ the luscious Miss Knowles might finally have found herself the role that could make her a bona vide movie star. That is, if she gets her hair-act together. The musical – three young black girls who make it in the music industry in the early 1960 (where have we heard that before…) – requires some dance acts, something that normally should not be a problem for the ex-Destiny’s Child lead singer. But apparently it doesn’t go all that smooth. The shooting keeps getting delayed because Beyoncé seems to be bedeviled by her hairpieces.

During a dance routine some capes were supposed to look like they were elevating, while actually being raised by fish wire. But it got all caught up in Beyoncé’s wig. Another time the singer was twirling and her fake nail get keeping caught in the wig and ripped it all apart.
