Boyzone's Stephen Gately Dies at 33

BOYZONE FOREMAN STEPHEN GATELY HAS PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY WHILST ON VACATION IN MAJORCA. EVEN THOUGH THE CAUSE OF DEATH IS STILL UNCLEAR, POLICE SAID THEY HAD NO REASON TO BELIEVE THE DEATH WAS RELATED TO ABUSE OF SUBSTANCES SUCH AS DRUGS OR ALCOHOL AND NO SUICIDE NOTE OR SIGNS OF VIOLENCE WERE LOCATED.

Stephen Gately, who was along with Ronan Keating one of the two lead singers in the boy band Boyzone, has suddenly passed away while enjoying a vacation in Majorca with his civil partner Andy Cowles. According to the official statement Stephen had gone out for drinks, returned to his accommodation and went to sleep normally, but never woke up.

Stephen Gately was a member of the boy band Boyzone who were considered a major pop band during the 1990’s. In the first 7 years of their existence, the band released 5 albums and signed off on 6 UK number 1 hit singles. After the break up Stephen worked on a solo singing career as well as a career on television and West End theater. The band recently got back together again. Stephen made worldwide headlines in 1999 when he admitted to be gay. He was the first member of a popular boy band to ever do so.

Gately's bandmates flew out to Majorca on 11 October 2009.[21][28] Louis Walsh is expected to join them soon. The surviving members of Boyzone, Keith Duffy, Mikey Graham, Ronan Keating and Shane Lynch, issued a joint statement: "We are completely devastated by the loss of our friend and brother, Stephen. We have shared such wonderful times together over the years and were all looking forward to sharing many more. Stephen was a beautiful person in both body and spirit. He lit up our lives and those of the many friends he had all over the world. Our love and sympathy go out to Andrew and Stephen's family. We love you and will miss you forever, Steo."  Stephen Gately was 33 years old. –B-

Goodbye Darlene Conley

SALLY SPECTRA IS NO MORE... DARLENE CONLEY, THE  72-YEARS OLD ACTRESS WHO PLAYED THE FLASHY, FIERY AND FLAMBOYANT HEAD OF SPECTRA CREATIONS AND CHIEF RIVAL OF FORRESTER FASHIONS IN THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, PASSED AWAY LAST SUNDAY, JANUARY 14.

Irish American Darlene Conley’s career spanned fifty years, but was most known for her performances on daytime television, and in particular for her portrayal of larger-then-life fashion designer Sally Spectra on The Bold and The Beautiful, a role she played since 1988 till her death. Darlene was employed with the traveling theater group the Chicago Uptown Circuit Players And Playwrights Company in the late 1950’s and played small roles in the movies The Birds, Valley Of The Dolls and Lady Sings The Blues, followed by a well-received performance in daytime  television Soap The Young And The Restless as Rose DeVille. For most of the 80’s she played small roles in other soaps until her re-appearance as Rose DeVille got her a role in the by that time newly created series The Bold And The Beautiful, which made her famous all over the globe.

The film, stage and television actress received Emmy nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1991 and 1992 for her portrayal of Sally Spectra. Additionally, she received Soap Opera Digest Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1991 and Outstanding Female Showstopper in 1996. The world famous Madame Tussaud's honored Darlene by selecting Sally Spectra as the only soap opera character to be displayed in their gallery of wax figures in Amsterdam and Las Vegas.

Darlene had been ill for several years due to a fall that broke several bones. She recovered from the fall and had returned to work, although she was usually seated during her scenes. In the fall of 2006 Darlene had surgery and received treatment for stomach cancer. The illness that eventually caused her death January 14, 2007, only three months after her diagnosis. Today Darlene Conley will star one more time when she gets buried in style of her timeless character Sally Spectra, as she wished it to be. –B-
